March 8, 2012 - PRLog -- In celebration of superlative art and automotive design, the Automotive Fine Arts Society (AFAS) and Mazda North American Operations will team up for a time-honored tradition, the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, which will take place from March 8-11 in Amelia Island, Fla.  AFAS is a group of artists from across the globe whose artwork is respected by lovers of both art and automobiles.

“AFAS is truly appreciative for the support the Mazda team continues to provide,” said AFAS President Ken Eberts. “Our group of artists appreciate this opportunity to share the AFAS vision with concours patrons at Amelia Island and are glad that Mazda is a part of it.”

Creating a true mix of horsepower and creativity, Mazda will join the artists at the AFAS exhibit and display the 2012 Mazda MX-5 Special Edition, an all-new take on the iconic roadster.  With a never-before-offered black-colored power retractable hardtop, black alloy wheels and distinctive interior trim with contrasting stitching, the MX-5 SE is not to be missed.

As the AFAS sponsor, Mazda annually selects an AFAS artist to receive the “Emotion of Motion Award.” Last year’s winner, Tony Sikorski took home this prestigious accolade for his showpiece titled, “‘32 Southern California Roadster.”

“Our partnership with AFAS has continued to grow over the years, benefitting art and auto aficionados alike,” said Jay Amestoy, VP, public and government affairs, Mazda North American Operations.  “We look forward to the Amelia Island Concours each year and enjoy the opportunity to witness these masters of craft share their talents with patrons, sponsors and exhibitors.”

*Editor’s Note: The AFAS art show is from Thursday, March 8 to Saturday, March 10, at the Ritz-Carlton in Talbot Room A&B. It’s open to the public with free admission. The show will continue on the green Sunday, March 11.
