The Automotive Fine Arts Society To Captivate Patrons At 2012 Pebble Beach Concours D’elegance

May 21, 2012 - PRLog -- Members of the prestigious Automotive Fine Arts Society (AFAS) will showcase their talents through magnificent works of art at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance® on Aug. 19, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Lincoln Division of Ford Motor Company, the AFAS exhibit will include original paintings and sculptures created by “A-list” artists from around the world.

“The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is a pilgrimage many car aficionados take each year,” said Ken Eberts, AFAS president.  “We’re honored to be a part of that special experience once again and couldn’t do it without the support from Lincoln. Regardless if an Aston Martin makes your heart thump or it’s a Shelby Cobra that does the trick, AFAS creates masterpieces to satisfy a variety of preferences.”  

Lincoln, which sponsored the Pebble Beach AFAS exhibit for 15 years, will do so again.  Lincoln will also sponsor the group’s exclusive reception on Saturday, Aug. 18, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., which has become a popular destination for celebrities and industry leaders to get a sneak peek of new pieces by AFAS artists.

As thousands flock to see this year’s featured marques like Mercer, Fiat, Saoutchik Coachwork, the Maharaja Car sand more, visitors will also see the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and the Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance posters created by AFAS members Jay Koka and Barry Rowe. Koka’s painting will be displayed at the Concours on Sunday, Aug. 19, and Rowe’s will be showcased during the Tour d’Elegance on Thursday, Aug.16.

First conducted in 1950, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance (www.pebblebeachconcours.net) has grown to be the world’s premier celebration of the automobile.  Only the most beautiful and rare cars are invited to appear on the famed 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links, and connoisseurs of art and style gather to see these masterpieces.
