Feb. 24, 2012 - PRLog -- Going to makeup school for the first time you may have heard a lot of beauty myths. Well here’s a chance to dispel them.

‘Cucumbers are good for your eyes and reduce puffiness’

This is a myth. In fact cucumber itself doesn’t reduce puffiness, as cucumbers are usually refrigerated it is actually the cold coming off them that helps to contract the blood vessels around our eyes. This takes down any swilling. A lot of people also find the cucumber scent quite soothing.

‘If you pluck a grey hair, more will grow back in its place’

Yet another myth, this is not true. So just go ahead and pluck that grey hair out! Better yet consider beauty training (http://www.beauty-training.co.uk/?utm_source=Premium+Content+Creation&utm_medium=SEO+Articles&utm_campaign=Beauty+Articles) and learn how to dye your own hair back to its better days.

‘Chocolate gives you spots’

If you’re thinking of taking a beauty course, it’s good to get this rumor straight. Chocolate does in fact not cause spots. However, high sugar levels could have an effect on hormone levels in people genetically prone to acne.

‘Using toothpaste on a spot will make it go away’

This is partially true, although only to a minimal extent. One of the ingredients in toothpaste is antibacterial, this is known as triclosan and some spot treatment actually contain this. However, what people don’t think about are the other ingredients in toothpaste, and what effect they may have on the skin. They could actually block the pores, and cause spots.
