In a new interview with Rock Cellar Magazine, film director Oliver Stone talks in detail about his new book and TV series “On History,” his love of Jim Morrison’s work and post-Cold War American politics.

What’s most surprising however is that Stone gives an endorsement to presidential candidate Ron Paul.

Stone says:  “I think in many ways the most interesting candidate – I’d even vote for him if he was running against Obama – is Ron Paul.  Because he’s the only one of anybody who’s saying anything intelligent about the future of the world.”

Stone has always – mistakenly or not – been the perceived poster-boy for  “Liberal Hollywood,” and was a strong supporter of Barack Obamas presidential bid.  For him to now question Obama’s public policy and give kudos to Ron Paul may come as quite a shock to readers.

Rock Cellar Magazine editor Jeff Cazanov  isn’t surprised at all.  “For those who have  truly followed Stone’s career and political stances, this isn’t really that out of the ordinary,” says Cazanov.    “I see him more as a citizen-populist who has supported democratic causes throughout the world.  He seems far more interested in the way power works in government, than in political labels.   We’re just happy he spoke with us in such detail, and with such candor.”

The interview conducted by Rock Cellar Magazine contributing writer Ed Rampell is as frank, educational and entertaining as one has come to expect from Oliver Stone.

Rock Cellar Magazine’s goal is to continue to cover socio-political stories which have elements of individual citizen activism.
