Rock Cellar Magazine Announces Launch
Former Back Page Magazine Celebrates “Old-School” Music & Modern Culture
By: Mass Ferguson
Rock Cellar Magazine. a music, journalism, and cultural entertainment website announced its debut this month – with a goal of being a convenient one-stop for people interested in timeless music and popular interest stories. Its location is http://www.rockcellarmagazine.com.
Originally launched as Back Page Magazine, Rock Cellar Magazine has changed its name to avoid confusion with another website. It’s content remains the same, although the look of the magazine has gotten a makeover.
Conceived as a labor-of-love by founder/publisher Kevin Wachs, Rock Cellar Magazine’s focus will be on music and musicians from the 1960s through the 1990s – seasoned, established artists who are still recording, touring, and whose voices still remain relevant today.
Wachs felt that he - as others - just didn’t have the time to endlessly surf the internet trying to find music and articles on older artists. “I thought it would be cool to start collecting artists all in one place, and then eventually offer their music, books, whatever, right at our site.”
Wachs wanted to create a homey website that had the nostalgic feel of an “old-school”
“The music industry has changed so dramatically,”
Rock Cellar Magazine doesn’t confine itself to music, but covers a broad range of articles for “People Who Still Read. Or Skim.”
For editorial content, Wachs enlisted the help of long-time cohort Jeff Cazanov. “Like Marlon Brando, I’m interested in everything,”
Cazanov fully realizes that the internet has its limitations. “People don’t have the time to read much anymore, and if they do, they need to get their news and entertainment fast. Ultimately, we want to be a fun and easy source of information.”
Wachs and Cazanov are both self-avowed “Boomers Who Don’t Like The Term ‘Boomer.’”
Although they trust that Rock Cellar Magazine will appeal to an older demographic, Wachs adds: “Everyone knows that there are tons of younger people who think the past is cool.”
