Activities Abroad has launched a number of brand-new adult-only trips, including this week-long activity holiday on Fuerteventura’s lesser-developed north-west coast.

With an average sea temperature of 20°C and 10-11 hours of sunshine each day, Fuerteventura’s ideal for spending a week in, on and under the water. Avoiding the sprawling masses of purpose-built complexes, this multi-activity holiday is based in and around the small rural fishing village of El Cotillo, which still centres around its traditional harbour. Despite being a surfing hotspot, the village is peaceful, relaxed and remains relatively untouched, with miles of postcard-worthy beaches on its doorstep.

Watersports are the focus here and the surf school has recently gained sponsorship from Animal, meaning that the equipment’s really top-notch and ideal for all levels. You’ll be transported around the island in order to find the best waves, and the finest conditions for your particular standard. Aside from the surfing, there’s also time for sea kayaking, swimming and stand-up paddling which, originally from Hawaii, has become a hit on the island.

And if, in the middle of the week, the peace and quiet of El Cotillo gets to you and you need a break from the beach, there’s car hire included for just that purpose. Visit the more touristy Corralejo, head inland to Lajares or track down the best beaches on the island – often involving some off-road driving.

Departing May-November, this brand-new Fuerteventura multi-activity week costs from £1,185 pp (two sharing) including flights (London), car hire, seven nights’ full-board hotel accommodation with most drinks, all activities (including three full days’ surfing), equipment and fully-qualified instructors.
