Kerri Kirshner was awarded this prestigious award for 2011.
Each month, photographers submit their images, into different categories, to SPPA to be judged by a group of their peers. Images are judged and awarded points on many criteria including: impact, composition, color and subject matter. At the end of the year, the points are tallied with the photographer with the most points being awarded “Seattle Professional Photographer of the Year”. Kirshner feels that photography is such an important part of life. Photos capture all the precious moments between a new parent and their baby, a toddlers first steps, young adulthood, High School Senior portraits, and the closeness of a family. It’s a special way to highlight the most important times in your life that can be shared with future generations. Kirshner has been involved in photography for over 20 years. In recent years, her passion in photography has swung between corporate photos, babies, high school seniors, to families - particularly families with special needs. She added special children to her traditional portrait work, shortly after completing the unique training and accreditation process through SKPA (Special Kids Photography of America). A desire to provide parents with a safe and relaxed environment to photograph their special needs or seriously ill children lead Kirshner to Special Kids Photography of America (SKPA) where she has just started her second term as president of this non-profit organization. She understands that out of any number of reasons, many families find it difficult to take a special child to a professional studio. Her approach to photographing special children is quite unique. First, she will have an in-depth conversation with the parents, asking what their child likes or if they have sensitivity to lighting or anything else that may occur during a professional photo session. After the interview, Kirshner has a game-plan for the most productive session for the child/family, at the child’s home, the studio, outdoors or wherever deemed best for that particular child. Looking at her work online at www.AcclaimedPhoto.com, one can truly see the passion as Kirshner captures a person’s inner personality and feelings. # # # Acclaimed Photography is a full-service professional portrait studio. We photograph children and their families, create business portraits, HS seniors, product photography, and we photograph children with special needs and disabilities. End
