UPES is organizing National Moot Court Competition in Dehradun

Feb. 14, 2012 - PRLog -- Dehradun: University of petroleum and energy studies is organizing 2nd Dr. Paras Diwan Memorial “Energy Law” National Moot Court Competition, 2012 on 6th, 7th & 8th April 2012  before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of Indoi.

Director, College of Legal Studies, UPES, shares, “We organize these moot court room sessions so that our students get a practical exposure. These competitions give the student an array of opportunities to explore and make sure, lots of learning is attained. Our department is making all forms of arrangements in terms of organizing. It will go on for three days and will likely to have an informative exchange of information. This is one event where, we get to notice the talents hidden inside the students. The competition will throw light on the communication skills, knowledge, debate skills, presence of mind and much more.”

The moot competition will be in the matter of Government of Indoi through The Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Indoi Oil Corporation Ltd. And Hexxon Petroleum Corporation Ltd. The appellants will be Bright Petroleum Corporation Ltd and the respondents will be Retro Petroleum Ltd. The competition will take place in the college of legal studies in Dehradun. Supported by the faculties and other law experts, the competition will focus on student’s learning.

The issue explains that ‘Indoi’ (fictional) is a country whose institutional framework is similar to that of India. The country is the fifth largest consumer of crude and petroleum products. While, the country has seen an increase in the price of crude oil thus, the government has been thinking to adverse affect of price on the common man. In this regard, the National Oil Marketing Companies (NOMCs) in which Government of Indoi holds a major share. With the price hike and with several other issues, the court room will likely to have lots of sessions. The moot competitions will give opportunities to students to speak up and elaborate their part.
