By: Lakhbir Rakar Iain has been responsible for the strategic direction and development of the firm since taking over from Brian Smith in May 2009. The firm also recruited three additional partners, including Peter Ware from Notts County Council, Kate Andrews in London and Juliette Shaw in Birmingham. Over the last eighteen months the firm has also added a number of high profile clients to its burgeoning portfolio including Standard Life, Guoman Thistle Hotels, Marstons Plc, Musion Systems Limited, Ballyvesey Holdings Ltd, Swarovski, Codemasters, The North Face, Bureau Veritas, Home Retail Group, Methodist Homes and St Andrew's Healthcare. During this period the firm has also established a national reputation for its work in advising nearly 200 schools nationally on conversion to academy status. William Colacicchi, Senior Partner, commented: “Iain has done an outstanding job over the last three years steering the firm successfully through the 2009 downturn in the legal market, and building the foundations for the firm to develop and grow in such a focused and strategic way. The decision to have Iain at the helm for the next three years was unanimous.” Iain Blatherwick added: “It has been a privilege to lead the firm and I am delighted to be asked to continue for a further term which I am sure will be just as exciting and challenging. There is still a long way to go in achieving the vision that we all have for Browne Jacobson and I look forward to playing my part in the next stage of the firm’s development.” # # # We are a national law firm offering a unique collection of specialisms across the commercial, public, health and insurance sectors.
