Modern day technology creates new methods in which to “cyber stalk” just about anyone, including potential job candidates. From Facebook to Twitter, a myriad of information can be compiled about an otherwise faceless applicant. This and other search measures could prove consequential to the employer, though.
Nearly any one person can be punched into Google.com and within seconds, multiple pages are displayed where more information could be garnered in regards to a hiring decision on a candidate.  The line of fairness in privacy is a blurred one – social media and technology play a heavy role in privacy risks. Much more than a candidate’s personal life is exposed, perhaps felonies or bankruptcies, for example. Moreover, are these discoveries allowable material in the final decision?
“The Hiring Process” Smartcast with Craig J. Davidson, CEBS, will delve further into these important issues, and others including unemployment history and what to avoid during the interview and hiring process.
