| WakeMed Heart Center Hosts Education Programs and Events for National Heart MonthWakeMed Heart Center is hosting a series of education programs and events to mark February as National Heart Month and to help North Carolinians lead healthy, heart-filled lives.
Experts at WakeMed Heart Center are teaming up with Wake County EMS to teach the basics of CPR and the warning signs and symptoms of a heart attack in our “Feel the Beat – CPR Anytime” program. CPR was selected as a primary focus for education events because according to the American Heart Association, effective bystander CPR provided immediately after sudden cardiac arrest can double or triple a victim’s chance of survival, but only 32 percent of cardiac arrest victims get CPR from a bystander. Today, less than eight percent of people who suffer cardiac arrest outside a hospital survive.
