Useful Tips for Burglary Prevention

Jan. 30, 2012 - PRLog -- Is your home really safe once you leave for work? Your home is the only environment where you have control over who can get close to and your family. For every one of us, the very word home means a place that's safe.

The most common threat to our home is burglary. The majority of home and apartment burglaries occur during the daytime when most people are away at work. Favourite goods are cash, jewellery, watches, laptop computers, and other small electronic devices are high on the list.

Protecting your home and family from criminal intrusion should be high on your list of priorities. But keeping your place secure takes a little planning and attention. Burglars know to look inside your car for keys and other valuables so keep it locked, even when parked inside your garage.

As many burglars kick in doors to get in, you can strengthen any exterior door by using a 1-inch-long deadbolt lock and a reinforced metal box strike. Sliding bar locks mount in the center of a door are highly resistant, and even with the hinge pins out, you can’t get the door open.
Keyless locks let you forget about keys.  And if you think someone has learned the combination, you can change it in a second. But if you use keys, remove all spare keys that are hidden under doormats, in flowerpots, or anywhere outside the house and use key safes
Consider investing in home safes to store and protect your valuables items. Home security safes are for everyone, not just for the rich.
