Follow on Google News | Addingham Bistro rises from the rubbleA bistro which threatened to collapse three years ago is set to re-open with a new name and under new ownership.
The premises, formerly The Good Food Shop, have been taken over by local businessman and food fanatic Andrew Wilson. Andrew previously ran a restaurant in London which, by strange coincidence, was also called The Good Food Shop. “When I first saw the business it seemed like an omen!” said Andrew. “The new menu reflects my passion for food from around the world – it’s like the “Desert Island Dishes” of my life. We serve hearty, globally-inspired dishes such as cassoulet from France, Greek skordalia and even palaver sauce from West Africa, as well as British favourites like toad-in-the- It is almost three years to the day since demolition workers were called in when eye witnesses noticed the end of the building had begun to break away from the rest of the row and, following the dramatic removal of part of the first floor, structural repairs were carried out. Andrew, who lives in Silsden, says the new bistro will reflect his personal ethos by sourcing local and fair-trade supplies and using energy from environmentally friendly sources. Mindful of limited local employment opportunities, Andrew has offered apprenticeships to four local young people who will study catering and hospitality at nearby Craven College. In addition to contemporary and traditional dishes, Frewin’s stock fine wines, as well as real ales from several local micro breweries. The breakfast menu is served between 9am and noon with lunches from 1230 until 2pm. The evening menu, which includes a selection of daily specials, is available Tuesday to Saturday from 6pm. Continental style snacks are served throughout the day. The bistro, which is open daily, also includes a private dining and events space suitable for up to twenty people.
