Decision Support Adds to Its Electronic Poll Book Team

Gerry’s extensive experience in elections includes work as Director of Customer Support for Elections Systems and Software’s (ES&S) line of Voter Registration Products. He managed pre-implementation data conversions, environment setup, training and ongoing post-implementation support for voter registration and electronic poll book applications.

“This experience will be invaluable to us as we support a growing base of electronic poll book customers,” said Mike Sibley, President of the Secured Elections Management division of Decision Support. “As more and more jurisdictions across the nation look at vote centers and super precincts as ways to reduce cost and improve the efficiencies of delivering elections, experience like Gerry’s will be in great demand. For the last 7 years, Gerry has served the North Carolina State Board of Elections working with the State Election Information Management System (SEIMS).  In this capacity, Gerry was responsible for supporting and training the 100 jurisdictions that make up the North Carolina elections community. As he met with Election’s Directors across North Carolina, he designed and implemented training curriculums that allowed election professionals to better utilize existing and new technologies.

“Over the last several years, the budgets of Election Officials have been under attack like most other state and county agencies. Populations continue to grow and elections continue to grow in complexity as more voter initiatives reach the ballot box,” said Gerry Smith. “At Decision Support, I can continue to support elections by helping jurisdictions to explore the viability of new concepts like electronic poll books and vote centers.
