Nicaragua present at Vakantiebeurs Fair in The Netherlands

As part of Nicaragua’s marketing and promotional activities abroad, the National Tourism Board is currently participating in the 42nd edition of the Vakantiebeurs Fair.
 
Jan. 13, 2012 - PRLog -- As part of Nicaragua’s marketing and promotional activities abroad, the National Tourism Board (INTUR, for its acronym in Spanish) is currently participating in the 42nd edition of the Vakantiebeurs Fair, which is taking place between January 9th and the 15th at the Jaarbeurs Exhibitions Centre in Utrecht, The Netherlands.

Part of INTUR’s objective of participating in this event is to gain more international exposure of Nicaragua and its wide variety of tourism attractions, as well as to persuade Dutch tour operators to include the country as part of their tourism destinations. Nicaragua has participated with great success in the Vakantiebeurs Fair during 14 years now.

The event includes the participation of over 1,600 exhibitors from nearly 160 countries from around the world. During this year’s edition, more than 28 important tour operators which offer tourism destinations in Nicaragua will be attending the fair. Some of the Nicaraguan tour operators that offer the country as a destination in The Netherlands include Vapues Tours, Solentiname Tours, Oro Travel, Matagalpa Tour, Tierra Tours and Loro Travel, as well as the Nicaraguan Association of Small Hotels (HOPEN, for its acronym in Spanish).

According to the event organizers, 45 percent of visitors attending the fair are looking for information on possible destinations to visit on their next vacations, while 22 percent choose their destination during the event. The 2011 edition of the Vakantiebeurs Fair received over 132,961 visitors.

During the last four years, the number of Dutch tourist visiting Nicaragua has being growing steadily. In 2011, 6,516 Dutch tourist visited Nicaragua and during 2012 the number is expected to rise to 7,386.

Nicaragua was recently ranked as one of the top ten best value destinations for 2011 by Lonely Planet, one of the largest travel guide books and digital media publisher owned by BBC Worldwide. According to the website’s recent article, “Nicaragua is quickly becoming one of the most popular places to escape winter. Culture, adventure, sand and surf are all part of its cachet”.
