PRLog -- System Check is the new malware imitating the traits of certain hard drive defragmentation tool. The previous modifications of this fake HDD were called System Fix and System Restore. There are many other similar malwares, but these ones are the latest samples. This virus is known to attack PCs nowadays via fake USPS e-mails with suspicous attachments. Once the user opens the e-mail he/she would find certain executable or zip-file. Upon its launching or unpacking and subsequent launching the virus is installed. System Check then amends the system in order to be launched automatically once you turn your PC on. In additon, it would intially hide the majority of your important data on your computer, such as files, folders, icons, desktop shortcuts and the entire list of programs in the strart menu. It would appear that the entire hard drive has been wiped off, but this is not the case. It this would be true, the virus would also not appear. The truth is that the files now have hidden attributes. Moreover, they have been relocated to specially designated folders by System Check hoax. Then the malware would tell you that you must pay for its full version, license or registration key in order to restore your files. In addition, you would be permanently annoyed with a lot of other fake security notifications and warnings initiated by System Check. Nothing stated by this malware is of the truth.
