McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP Elects Seven New Partners

Jan. 5, 2012 - PRLog -- ATLANTA — The law firm of McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA) announces the election of seven lawyers to the firm’s partnership and the promotion a senior strategic advisor to managing director, effective January 1, 2012.  The new partners and managing director operate across a range of practice areas including corporate, government affairs, government contracts, litigation, and real estate.

The new partners and managing director in the following offices are:

In Atlanta:

Shannon Baxter is a member of the firm’s corporate group and focuses her practice on the representation of creditors and borrowers in connection with commercial lending transactions, including secured and unsecured credit facilities, bankruptcies, reorganizations and workouts, cross-border transactions, acquisition, recapitalization and other leveraged financings, and facilities structured to comply with Sharia law.  Her clients include banks, finance companies, hedge funds, and public and private companies.

Brian Holmes is a member of the firm’s real estate practice.  He represents institutional lenders in a broad range of secured and unsecured lending transactions to real estate investment trusts and other real estate companies. Holmes also works with commercial real estate developers in the acquisition, development, financing, leasing and disposition of commercial properties.

In Denver:

Phillip R. Seckman is a member of the firm’s government contracts practice. His practice is focused on issues relevant to government contractors, including issues that arise in the context of GSA schedule contracting, issues of cost allowability, proper cost accounting, and cost and pricing, as well as the assessment and presentation of complex contract claims.

In Los Angeles:

Michael R. Udell is a member of the real estate practice group. His practice focuses on transactional real estate, including acquisition, disposition, and development of mixed-use, office, residential and retail projects.  He currently represents one of the world's leading retailers in its ongoing U.S. rollout. In this capacity, he has served as lead counsel on more than 150 site acquisitions and leases throughout Arizona, California and Nevada in the past four years.


In New York:

Michael Klein was previously a senior strategic advisor and independent consultant in the firm’s government affairs practice.  As a managing director, Klein leverages his public policy experience in advancing major energy, parks, transportation, infrastructure, and telecom projects in the New York region to assist clients on various legislative and regulatory matters.

In San Francisco:

Jennifer J. Lee is a member of the firm’s litigation practice.  She represents a range of clients in asbestos product liability cases in California, including premise owners and manufacturers, distributors and suppliers of a wide variety of products.

In Washington, DC:

Daniel L. Russell Jr. is a member of the firm’s litigation practice.  Russell is an expert in “contractor on the battlefield” litigation matters, including tort claims against military support contractors arising out of wartime incidents.  The firm is a nationally recognized leader in this complex and evolving area of the law.  Russell also has extensive experience in federal regulatory litigation, including litigation brought by or against the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. Russell has litigated in federal district and appellate courts throughout the country.  

Henry J. “Jim” Schweiter is a member of the firm’s government contracts and government affairs practices.  He works with government contractors in resolving contractual issues with the government and in the development and implementation of government affairs strategies.  Jim also represents companies that are under investigation by Congress and federal agencies.
