Bheki Nkwanyana, DDW Plant Manager of its Swaziland facility, shares his insights into how the food and beverage industry is making improvements in third party audits, certifications and food safety. “There’s a huge emphasis in making sure that food purchasing companies are compliant with the food safety systems,” Nkwanyana says. “For example, HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points) has taken a big movement in the African region, mainly turned by the European market, I’d say, but while adopting the same legal requirements.” In fact, as Nkwanyana points out, DDW has already noticed an increased push for compliance among our suppliers as well as our customers.
