Arkle Chase Betting Guide and Update

Dec. 27, 2011 - PRLog -- Peddlers Cross, who before today was the favourite with most firms for the Arkle Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, has been eased in the betting to around 5/1 after his trainer, Donald McCain, has suggested that a step up in trip could be on the cards – he’s now available around 12/1 for the RSA Chase.
Due to this Paul Nicholls’ Al Ferof has been cut from 7/1 to 6/1 in the ante post Arkle market, as punters latch onto the fact his talented grey beat impressive Kempton winner Sprinter Sacre in last season’s Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

Leading bookmaker StanJames.com have reacted to Sprinter Sacre’s eye-catching Kempton win, which he easily put Peddlers Cross in his place, over Christmas by shortening his Arkle price from 11/2 to 2/1 favourite.

The Nicky Henderson-trained 5-year-old jumped like a stag at Kempton and looks set for the very top of the chasing sphere. Punters that sided with Peddlers Cross knew their fate early on when he clattered the first, and although he quickly got back in contention that error took its toll in the closing stages with Sprinter Sacre eventually pulling clear up the Kempton home straight to win as he liked under jockey Barry Geraghty.
