Dec. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- Students aspiring to get admission into a management programme at the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) will now have to clear a personal interview after taking admission test.

The objective of the personal interview is to evaluate the communication skills of the students and it will be introduced for the year 2012 batch.

Management positions require strong communication skills along with academic merit,” GGSIPU vice- chancellor Dilip K. Bandyopadhyay said after releasing the admission brochure for the 2012-’ 13 MBA programmes.

The new rule means that the final merit list will be based on the common entrance test (75 per cent) and the interview (25 per cent). The results will be posted on the university website ( www. ipu. ac. in ). Each interview in the new format will last for six minutes and will be conducted by the University School of Management Studies (USMS).

With more than 1,200 seats on offer, the GGSIPU management programmes offer specialisation in marketing, human resource management, finance, information technology, global business management, financial markets and the national stock exchange.

In addition to having a good placement record, we prepare our students to become entrepreneurs,” the university’s registrar, B. P. Joshi, said.

“Most of them start their own ventures or get into their family businesses.” Nearly 9,000 candidates appeared for the common entrance test last year. The fee for the programmes has been fixed at ` 53,000 per year.

The application forms for the MBA programmes are now available at 23 Indian Bank branches in the city. The last date for the submission of completed application forms is February 20. Candidates can also upload their forms online from December 2.

Apart from USMS, as many as 12 colleges and institutes affiliated to GGSIPU offer MBA programmes.

And the number of seats per institute, according to university officials, has gone up from 120 to 180. That just makes the university a worthwhile option for MBA candidates.
