Mercedes-benz Launches Its Big Daddy Gl-class In India

April 18, 2010 - PRLog -- With the ML being dwarfed by the likes of the mammoth Audi Q7 and the land Cruisers it was about time that the Mercedes brought in its big daddy, the GL here. With its imposing size, seven seat option and starry allure the GL will finally be able to take the fight to the competition. The GL comes across as a pretty potent vehicle equipped with 4MATIC, the permanent four-wheel drive from Mercedes-Benz providing the GL with superior handling whatever the conditions. On the road, handling is taken care of by the standard-fit AIRMATIC air suspension, the precise speed-sensitive power steering and the ADS Adaptive Damper System which also comes as standard equipment. Taken off the beaten path, the GL can tackle the toughest terrains thanks to feature like the downhill speed regulation, hill-start assist and off-road ABS assist. The modified AIRMATIC air suspension, designed specifically for demanding conditions, increases the ground clearance to a maximum of 307 mm which takes care of the biggest obstacles. On the inside the GL sports a generous amount of headroom and legroom even in the last row of seats which are electrically foldable. The third row passengers are also spoilt with special AC vents and a rear entertainment system with infrared headphones.

Under the hood lies a 2987 cc V6 diesel which pumps out 225 PS @ 3800 rpm and a mammoth 510 Nm of torque between 1600-2800 rpm. Punching the throttle gets this 2450 kg behemoth to a 100 km/h in just 9.5 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h.

Blue efficiency makes its presence felt in the GL as well with standard-fit with automatic climate thermotronic with direct select which incorporates an array of smart energy saving measures without compromising performance.
