Briton University Fashion show gets festive

Dec. 24, 2011 - PRLog -- Briton University students will be showing off their creative flair and design skills at a festive fundraising fashion show next February 2012. The Briton University's second-year Fashion Product and Promotion students have been tasked with creating a range of products which will be displayed at the show. As well as being a fundraising exercise, the show will also form part of the students’ coursework relating to event management and promotion modules.

Visitors to the show can expect to see themes of vintage, heritage, sport, textiles, print and contemporary, as well as a timely festive theme. The products range from illustrations, fabric covered books, cards, stationery products, T-shirts, small leather goods, jewellery as well as many other items.

Hilary Turnock, lecturer on the BA Fashion Product and Promotion degree course, said: “The students have been working very hard to make sure this show is a success and the products are well designed and individual. I’ve been impressed with their creations and they’ve really stuck to the themes we've set them. We’re very proud of what they achieved.”

She added: “There are six groups which have been given themes to design a range of products, and visual merchandising to promote and illustrate their theme. The event fits in perfectly with what the students are learning on their course.

“Products will be priced to appeal to students and present a great opportunity for staff and students to purchase unique and hand-made gifts.”

Members of the public are also welcome to bag themselves a festive bargain at the event.

All the money raised from the sale of the items will provide funding towards exhibiting at Graduate Fashion Week in London next year, when final year students hope to have their own stand at the prestigious event.
