2012 IFWTWA Writers Scholarship Now Open

Dec. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Diamond Bar, CA (Dec. 2011)  The International Food Wine and Travel Writers Association (IFWTWA) announces its 2012 Scholarship Awards competition is now open and accepting applications in two categories:

Professional Journalist
Emerging Writer. (Open to non-members only ~ the entry fee is $25.)

The IFWTWA is proud to have an established program for recognizing excellence in journalism for professional and emerging food, wine and travel journalists. This is a self-nomination process for non-members. The Professional Journalism Scholarship Award recognizes seasoned, working food, wine and travel writers. The Emerging Writer Scholarship Award recognizes new food, wine and travel writers.

The recognition of a scholarship in one of the world's premier professional organizations for food, wine and travel media can provide exceptional benefits to the winners.  According to 2010 winner Heather Carreiro, “Winning the 2010 scholarship competition has advanced my writing career by connecting me with many other industry professionals though my complimentary one-year IFWTWA membership. I was able to attend my first press trip, network and learn from writers at the 2011 IFWTWA Conference at Sea, and gain valuable media exposure.”  

Awards include:

·         One-year scholarship for regular membership to IFWTWA with all member benefits

·         Publication in Global Writes; press releases, social media and blog entries announcing winners

·         Complimentary attendance at the IFWTWA ‘2013 Annual Converence’ (excluding airfare) for Professional Journalist Winner

·         Cash award for Emerging Writer winner.
