Nov. 29, 2011 - PRLog -- The Millennials— the generation born between 1980 and 1995—are the first completely wired digital generation. They live everywhere in the the world, and  there are NO BOUNDARIES for them.  Why? Because they are connected to each other and their world via the web, webTV, films, Twitter, music, YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, mobile smart phones, computers, and video games.

This will be the topic of discussion on Second Half Christians the innovative Christian talk radio program that airs Sunday 4th of December at 7: 00 PM (MOUNTAIN). This week's guest Craig Forrest, an award winning television producer, explains how the American Curch--as well as the Church in the developing world can use social media, web, video, and smart phone technology.  The show can be streamed lived at: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/gregory-fisher/2011/12/05/using-video-and-new-media-to-impact-your-world.  The open lines call in number for those wishing to ask questions, challenge assumptions, or, simply add to the discussion is (646) 929-2432.

The Millennials  have no fear of technology. They easily embrace newest media trends to connect,  converse, and just “hang out”.  This is a generation tied into visual language.  They  learned as it as kids beginning with Sesame Street segueing into video games and social media . You rarely find a Millennial almost anywhere in the world that is not tied to their texting, tweeting, youtube, and Facebook.

The Church in America and in the Developing world is not truly reaching this generation.  They may be the most ignored and abandoned generation in modern history. Here is one other fact:  They present the GREATEST challenge for the proclamation of the gospel at present. A  young person not reached with the Gospel by age 18, has little chance of being reached once they enter college or university. They are not impossible to reach; just harder to reach.

The Vision to reach this generation must come from the top. But, many pastors and church leaders in America and overseas still believe preaching from the pulpit, coupled with their church ministries already in place, are enough together to spread the Gospel.  There is also a persistent belief among leaders that social and digital media is beyond their comprehension and abilities which makes them reluctant to experiment with new forms of communication.

Let’s not even begin to talk about the Church budget. Church leaders often feel as though they are already stretched to the limits just to plan and execute a Sunday worship service, preaching, ministering, and providing specialized ministry to a consumer society.  Now they must be involved in media too? Who has the precious time and funds for all this?

Craig Forrest will talk with program hosts Greg and Margaret Fisher about how your Church can reach the Millennial generation using easy to find technology on the web, free websites, social media, and video production using lap top computers.  Craig has taught seminars on using the new media to Churches and Christian ministries in 22 countries.  Craig is no amateur, he holds a Masters degree from prestigious Chapman University and has numerous awards for documentaries on voodoo in Haiti, undercover video of the sex trafficking industry in Cuba, and the killing fields of Rwanda and Burundi.

This program will also be available for free download as a podcast on iTunes at http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/second-half-christians....
