Fieldskills leads the way in Expedition Leadership training in the North West

Nov. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- The announcement means that Fieldskills will now be offering IOL accredited training courses - the only company to do so in the North West.  The first course is an Expedition Leadership Weekend taking place this February in the Lake District.

The IOL leads the way in supporting high quality, safe, outdoor activity provision in the UK.  Fieldskills’ UK Director, Dom Hall, explains what it means for the company to be an approved IOL training provider:  “We are delighted that the high quality of our training has been recognised by IOL, as we’re committed to supporting people who work and play outdoors and to ensuring that they have fun and stay safe.  While we make our courses as practical and enjoyable as possible, we are experienced professionals who take safety in outdoor activities very seriously.”

Fieldskills has bases in Ulverston and Borneo, and runs a range of expedition and fieldwork safety training courses as well as outdoor first aid courses and adventure travel expeditions.  Dom continues: “The Expedition Leadership Weekend is all about giving people the confidence and skills to lead groups whether in an informal role, with a group of friends or family, as a volunteer or in a professional capacity.  We’ll cover all the stages of organising and leading an expedition, including planning all the logistics, managing safety and handling emergencies.  It’s a great opportunity to spend time with experienced expedition professionals, to get advice about your own trip and to find out about careers in the expedition industry.  The fact that the course now offers IOL accreditation is very important for anyone who is looking to work in the expedition industry."

The Expedition Leadership Weekend takes place on 11th and 12th February and costs just £150 (£130 for students).  Fieldskills offers a special discount for people who book together, so if you and a friend book you will each get a £15 discount.
