The Red Lion at Whittlesford Bridge roars again!

It was a night to remember, as the remarkable £1.25 million restoration of The Red Lion at Whittlesford Bridge was unveiled by Dr Lance Corporal Johnson Beharry VC

Nov. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Decorated war heroes, business leaders, family, friends and distinguished guests gathered from across the country, as The Red Lion at Whittlesford Bridge re-opened its doors for a red-carpet welcome in celebration of true British hospitality.

The triumphant evening saw guest of honour Dr Lance Corporal Johnson Beharry VC deliver a truly moving account of his experiences – paying tribute to The Red Lion’s long history of supporting heroes past and present.

Said Baharry, “It’s the sort of place I would like to come for a drink because it’s quiet and relaxing. The renovation looks great and it’s amazing the way it still has all the original features. The renovation is fantastic!”

Beharry was joined by Mrs Didy Grahame OBE, MVO and Joanne Hill, who received a cheque on behalf of the Victoria Cross and George Cross Association and Help for Heroes.

Sophie Gregorios, MD of Red Lion Leisure Ltd – which has devoted years to developing the project – shared the historic journey of this treasured Cambridgeshire coaching inn, giving heartfelt thanks to all those involved in the loving restoration of a chic new venue for the region.

Sophie’s speech was met with applause, as she concluded: “It’s been a complex challenge and there isn’t a detail that hasn’t been fought or thought over. But I hope you will agree, this development is the next phase of evolution for The Red Lion at Whittlesford Bridge, one that we believe will secure its future for everyone to enjoy. We hope that you love the end result as much as we do.”

The grand re-opening signifies a momentous revival for one of the region’s most historic places for people to eat, meet and rest. With hospitality at its heart, The Red Lion at Whittlesford Bridge will now proudly welcome visitors to enjoy a stunning new Cambridgeshire venue – with fabulous food, relaxing stays, business centre facilities and history and heritage – plus wedding and special occasion amenities that blend style and function for every event.
