Photo Finish To Be Screened at Big Apple Film Festival: A Comedy of Love vs. Viagra

Photo Finish takes a comedic if hard look at the age old middle-age couple crises of Libidoitis, the universal disorder which no amount of Viagra will cure, so much as plain old love and attention.

Oct. 30, 2011 - PRLog -- A very married middle-aged frump of a woman is caught on camera in mid-kiss with her new boy toy, the photo turning out ironically to be her ticket to a rehabilitated marriage.

Such is the log line of Photo Finish, the joint effort of Producer/Co-writer Beth Rosen and Director/Co-writer Mort Scharfman, which presents Peggy McGuinness, Danny Boushebel, Bobby Ballack and Michele Meises, in a comedic if hard look at the age old middle-age couple crises of Libidoitis, the universal disorder which no amount of Viagra will cure, so much as plain old love and attention.

The twenty-three-minute short comedy film will be screened in competition at The Big Apple Festival on Tuesday, November 1st at 7:45 pm at Tribeca Cinemas, 54 Varick Street in New York City.

Photo Finish is the team's first motion picture project. Beth Rosen, whose indie-production company, Signature Beth Productions LLC, financed the film, and Mort Scharfman, first met when Rosen, a lawyer by trade, took a course in comedy writing at NYU taught by Scharfman, an Emmy Award winning TV writer, now a professor at The New School University. Their first endeavors were sitcom pilot scripts, one of which attracted the interest of a well-known actor as star of the vehicle.

Rosen's resume,  includes working at top New York Bankruptcy and Insolvency law firms such as Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP and Shearman and Stearling, LLP, and in the way of the literary  and popular arts a number books, including co-authorship with Secret star and co-author of Chicken Soup for the African American Soul, Lisa Nichols, of a number one best selling book, Living Proof: Celebrating  the Gifts that Came Wrapped in Sandpaper. Rosen is also currently in development on several television pilots and screenplays and she has her own radio show called Spotlight on Rhino on Air Radio, by the arts for the arts, which airs every Monday morning at 10:00 a.m.

Scharfman's credits include work as Writer/Executive Story Consultant for Toy-Tandem Productions  sitcoms (Norman Lear, Bud Yorkin) as well as Writer/Executive Script Supervisor for D.L. Taffner Prods, plus specials starring  or featuring Jackie Gleason, Julie Andrews, Bob Hope. He is the recipient of an Emmy Award for comedy writing and a two-time nominee in that same category.  Also to his credit are two short documentaries on childhood poverty and disease in third-world countries, hosted by the late Katherine Hepburn and Angela Landsbury, respectively. Mort currently has two sitcoms pilots and a feature length screenplay in circulation and in the WGA contest.
