OFJCC Brings Classical Music to Palo Alto with Keyboard Conversations®

Enjoy the beloved music of Gershwin, Bernstein, Copland and others in Jeffrey Siegel’s unique “concert with commentary,” a joy for both the piano aficionado and novice alike.

Oct. 27, 2011 - PRLog -- The internationally acclaimed pianist Jeffrey Siegel will perform one of his celebrated Keyboard Conversation® programs on Sunday, November 13 at 7:00 PM in the Schultz Cultural Arts Hall at the Oshman Family JCC (OFJCC) in Palo Alto.

Siegel’s Keyboard Conversations® are unique in that lively commentary precedes each work that is performed. By offering listeners an “inside track” at how inspired composers create their masterpieces, Siegel makes the music more accessible and meaningful. His goal at the OFJCC is to reach out to newcomers of classical music as well as to increase the avid music lover’s understanding and enjoyment of familiar works.

The program in the Schultz Cultural Arts Hall will contain the rarely heard solo piano version of Gershwin's “Rhapsody in Blue,” Aaron Copland's humorous “Cat and the Mouse,” Scott Joplin's ragtime charmer “The Wall Street Rag,” and Leonard Bernstein's touching, melodically gorgeous “Anniversaries.” A question and answer period about these classical music greats concludes the program.

Mr. Siegel has been a soloist with many of the world's great orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic, London Symphony and New York Philharmonic. Mr. Siegel has also collaborated with many of the pre-eminent conductors of our time such as Claudio Abbado, Pierre Boulez, Charles Dutoit, James Levine and Michael Tilson Thomas. Ongoing Keyboard Conversation® programs flourish in numerous American cities, among them New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Phoenix, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Dallas, Washington, D. C. and Denver. Some of these venues have been presenting Keyboard Conversations® for more than thirty years.
