Oct. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Metzeler tyres will be the tyres of choice of many of the top national and international competitors in the 2011 Roof of Africa enduro race that will take place from 24 to 27 November in Lesotho. It will be the 44th running of this epic race.

With the 2011 World Enduro Championship now something of the past, Metzeler’s Six Days Extreme tyres have claimed three titles winning the E3, EJ (Junior) and EW (Women) categories. The Fin, Mika Ahola (Honda HM), always racing with Six Days Extreme tyres, was triumphant in the E3 Class and has inscribed his name in the record books as he is the first rider to have won a title in each class. The KTM rider, David Knight, won the championship together with Metzeler in 2010.

The French youngster, Jérémy Joly (HM Honda) won the Juniors category while Ludivine Puy (Gas Gas) claimed the Women’s Class title after winning six of the seven races this season to claim her second consecutive World Title. Eero Remes finished second in the E1 Class while Cristobal Guerrero (KTM) was the runner-up in the E2 Class – both were running on the Six Days Extreme tyres.

There were also other victories and five times winner of the Erzberg Rodeo, Taddy Blazusiak (KTM), did so again this year and was joined on the podium of this extreme enduro race by two more riders whose dirt bikes were shod with Metzeler Six Days Extreme tyres – runner-up Dougie Lampkin (GasGas) and third-placed Jonny Walker (KTM).

These results prove that one can’t go wrong fitting the 6 Days Extreme tyres for the upcoming Roof of Africa enduro race which has become known as one of the most difficult races in the world. Former race winner and double SA National Off-road Championship title holder, Jade Gutzeit, will be amongst the South African contenders who will shod his race bike with Metzeler tyres while the newly-crowned OR3 (200cc) and E2 (enduro) champion, Marc Torlage, has also been racing with Metzeler combinations.

AMP (After Market Products), importer and official distributor of Metzeler tyres in South Africa, strongly suggests competitors who participate in the Roof of Africa, a race known by now as one of the toughest motorcycle enduro races in the world, make use of the Metzeler MCE Six Days Extreme tyre for the Lesotho event. This ultimate off-road tyre, developed with factory riders for the most extreme challenge, has been dominating the enduro racing worldwide.

A combination of the 6 Days Extreme 21" 90/90 - 21 M/C 54M M+S Hard Front tyre and 18" 140/80 - 18 M/C 70M M+S will be available at a special price of R1 110 per set (incl VAT).

Another popular combination and probably more well known amongst enduro riders in South Africa, is the Metzeler MC4, a motocross competition tyre for enhanced performance tuned for more soft to medium terrains. A set of MC4 tyres can be obtained from R1 100 per set (incl VAT) while a set of MC5 for intermediate terrains is available from R1 165 per set (incl VAT).

Just Bike Tyres situated in Centurion, Pretoria, will be providing Roof of Africa competitors with a fitment service during the race and will be offering free fitment on Metzeler tyres – there will be a cost involved to have other brands of tyres fitted.

Metzeler tyres are available from all reputable dealers country wide.
