LiveOn named one of 50 Most Promising Global Startups

Oct. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- LiveOn is a new company with a lot going on. Next month, the Kansas City-based team launches the focus of their company, LiveOn.com, and they were just named one of the 50 most innovative startups in a global competition by Startup Open. The competition is part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, which was founded by another Kansas City entity, the Kauffman Foundation.

“We’re very excited to have made the list,” says LiveOn Founder and CEO Jonathan Whistman. “We have so much talent in Kansas City and its part of the reason we’re about to launch a project that will make an impression on people around the world.”

LiveOn’s web application, LiveOn.com, essentially offers internet immortality. The site guides users through creating memories from their photos and videos and eventually an entire timeline of their life that can be shared now, but will also live on forever for future generations to enjoy.

Whistman is a successful business consultant and entrepreneur apart from LiveOn, but he admits this venture is a bit different. “It’s almost like when I was at the bedside waiting for the birth of my first child; there are all of the excitements and fears. What is life going to be? Will I be a good parent? Will he be okay? I am very close to this project and our team has put so much into it since I conceived it just two years ago.”

LiveOn finds out November 14th if they win Startup Open’s grand prize, which includes a trip to the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in Liverpool to gain advice from world leaders, economists and veteran entrepreneurs. Liveon is up against 49 other strong, groundbreaking companies for the honor. The 50 were chosen from entries from 60 different countries.

"We hope that recognizing these promising startups will inspire other aspiring entrepreneurs to take chances and start new ventures."
