| Carmelo Anthony Talks Lockout, Lebron, Defense, and MoreAnthony spoke about various topics, including defense, at Modell's in Time Square.
By: Andrew Lontos The first question, however, was about Power Grip and how it related to Lebron James, whose infamous pre-game powder chalk routine is everything Carmelo's product isn't. “I think he's still gonna do it. He might use (Power Grip) before he comes out of the locker room, then stick to his regular routine. I'm gonna be sure to send him tons of these because I'm getting tired of that powder”, Anthony said laughing. The All-Star forward also spoke about his (lockout pending) newest teammate, Iman Shumpert: “I brought him to a couple of my workouts, that was my first time ever getting a chance to really see what he was about. I didn't really know he was that athletic, I didn't really know he could really play the game like that, I didn't know how smart he was on the basketball court. I figured that out as soon as we got on the court working.” And would the Georgia Tech product be invited to Melo's future exhibition game in the Big Apple? “Oh yea! Here in New York? Yea, of course. I mean, he's gotta be. It's only right.” When presented with the notion of joining the front office of an NBA team after his career, Anthony expressed no interest. And when CHARGED asked him to play the role of 2011 Knicks GM and say whether he would prefer to add a point guard or center in New York, he showed reluctance as well: “That's like a double-edged question. That's like a trick question. If I say a point guard you guys will go write a big story, if I say a big man you guys will go write a big story so it's like a double-edged question. But there are pieces that we can use on the New York Knicks whether it's a point guard, big man, we can uses pieces. I think we're headed in the right direction…” The Knicks forward is arguably the best offensive player in basketball, but just like teammate Amar'e Stoudamire, his defense, or lack-thereof, has been a frequent topic of discussion for his critics. He spoke strongly and positively about it on Friday: To see the video of Melo talking about defense, and more quotes visit http://www.charged.fm/ End
