Westside Family Pet Clinic (WFPC) will be holding their 2nd Annual “Pet Wellness Fair” on October 29th, 2011 from 1 to 3 PM. The fair/open house will focus on the preventative health for pets including annual wellness examinations, lifestyle based vaccinations & parasite control, preventative nutrition, and evidence based supplements.

Receive a “Pet Wellness Score Paw” to be stamped at our 5 “Wellness Stations” (lifestage, dentistry, body condition, muscle condition, and pain) to be entered in a drawing for over $1000 in pet related prizes! The fair is FREE and open to the public. Don’t’ forget to bring your pet!

Proceeds will be based on how many “Pet Wellness Score Paws” are filled out and will be divided between our featured rescues:  Grey Muzzle, Dane County Friends of Ferals, and the Dane County Humane Society,

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) & the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) have recently unveiled new guidelines for annual examinations, annual heartworm and internal parasite testing as well as core vaccinations for cats & dogs  http://www.pethealthpartnership.org/get_file.php/7 or https://www.aahanet.org/PublicDocuments/AAHA-AVMA_Prevent...

According to a recent study (The Bayer Veterinary Care Usage Study), there is an inadequate understanding among pet owners about the need for routine annual wellness examinations of their pets.

“Pet wellness, beginning with annual examinations, is the best way to insure pets live long & healthy lives. There are so many easy and cost effective ways a pet owner can prevent disease at this point in time,” says Ken Lambrecht, DVM Medical Director of Westside Family Pet Clinic.  “Cats in particular have not fared well in recent years in receiving the necessary care they deserve. Part of this is related to the challenges faced in getting a cat to the veterinarian and in large, the fact that cats are excellent deceivers. They hide their pain & illness until it is quite advanced. Annual wellness exams are a vital part of dog & cat health and can detect the early onset of disease/pain. These exams can protect the family from pet carried illnesses too!”

The 2011 Pet Wellness Fair will include:
Five “Pet Wellness” stations where participants can get their “Score Paws” stamped.  Drs. Ken Lambrecht, Sarah Kalstrup, Katie Grawe, Tina Karls, & Deanna Clark , along with other guest veterinarians and our staff of Certified Veterinary Technicians, Assistants, and Vendors will be on hand to answer virtually any pet wellness question.
Groomers & Fitness Trainers from Pet Styles & 4 Paws Swim and Fitness will be on hand to provide fitness & pet rehabilitation demonstrations, as well as provide a nail trimming or ear cleaning for a donation to our featured rescues.

Westside Family Pet Clinic (WFPC) was founded in 1984 and has been an AAHA accredited veterinary clinic since 1996.  Dr. Lambrecht has 30 years experience as a wellness veterinarian and is the medical director and founding owner of the center. He is an active member of numerous WVMA & AAHA committees & task forces, as well as other fundraising and advisory boards.
