Follow on Google News | Nevada PEP joins the movement against BullyingNevada PEP partners with Clark County School District for Bullying Prevention
By: Nevada PEP Las Vegas, Nevada, October 3, 2011 . . . Bullying is a serious issue that faces many children in Nevada. Nevada PEP has joined a nationwide movement to raise awareness of bullying prevention. In Clark County, Nevada PEP provided Bozarth Elementary, Long Elementary and Park Elementary, Jydstrup Elementary and Robert L. Taylor Elementary Bullying Prevention Bulletin Boards, pledge bookmarks and suggestions on school-wide bullying announcements to help students recognize how they can stand up to bullying! Working together with local schools is an opportunity to address bullying and help create a culture that no longer accepts bullying. As Dr. Janet Dobry, Principal at Robert L. Taylor Elementary said, “The community reaction to bullying has been very apathetic. Working with community providers like Nevada PEP provides tools to help students recognize the need to report and respond to bullying incidents. We have to raise the awareness so students will stand up to bullying.” Nevada PEP is Nevada’s statewide Parent Center that provides services to families, with a special emphasis on children with disabilities. Nevada PEP provides Is Your Child a Target of Bullying? workshop for parents so they can learn strategies to address bullying issues with their child.
