Ladies Who Launch Presents an Evening with Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski

Oct. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Westport, CT - Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, co-hosts of MSNBC’s popular weekday morning program, Morning Joe, will present a book discussion sponsored by Ladies Who Launch (LWL) of Southwestern CT.   The event will be held at J. McLaughlin’s, 1026 Post Road East in Westport on Wednesday October 26 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm.  J. McLaughlin will donate a portion of the evening’s proceeds to The Women’s Campaign School at Yale University.

Kathy McShane, director of the Southwestern Connecticut franchise of Ladies Who Launch, organized the event to provide LWL members and the general public with the opportunity to hear best-selling author Brzezinski talk about her new book - “Knowing Your Value – Women, Money and Getting What You’re Worth.”   This latest book takes a look at the role of women in the workplace – and, specifically, the fight to gain recognition and a fair salary.

“I know that most women in business have difficulty negotiating for themselves” says McShane, who has seen the phenomenon play out over and again during her 25-year career in marketing and product/brand development for major financial institutions, as well as her own company.  “What I aim to do at LWL is to educate and motivate my ladies so that they can better run their businesses.  When Mika came out with her book, I thought it was a great opportunity to see if she would come share with us what she experienced.”  McShane hopes that the evening will not only demonstrate to participants that successful women can struggle too, but offer real lessons on how to overcome this major stumbling block to successful entrepreneurship.

In addition, participants will have the chance to hear Scarborough and Brzezinski talk about their experiences as an award-winning TV news team.  This will be followed by a question and answer session.
