New Partner For Landmark Stamford, CT Firm

Jan. 17, 2012 - PRLog -- Stamford, CT – Bregman & Company, P.C. a long-time Stamford-based accounting firm, is pleased to announce the promotion of Eliot M. Bassin to partner, effective January 2012.   Mr. Bassin’s promotion is a unique move for this family owned firm as it represents the first time a non-Bregman will share the helm since the company’s founding.  Mr. Bassin will share partnership with Owen W. Bregman, who joined the firm in 1986, and his father, founding partner, Herbert A. Bregman.

“Eliot has been made partner because he’s talented and deserves this, we’re growing and planning for the future. This is a move for our succession and we are positioned for growth,” says Owen Bregman.

Bregman & Company is a locally grown business.  The firm can trace its roots in the area back to the 1940s and has been operating in Stamford under the current ownership since 1977.  As a full service certified public accounting firm Bregman & Company provides everything from tax, auditing, and financial statement preparation services to litigation support, forensic accounting and financial planning.  The firm services business and individual clients throughout Connecticut, across the country, and around the world.

In an accounting profession that is characterized by an ageing work force, Mr. Bassin’s promotion, at just 29 years old to partner, highlights Bregman & Company’s youthful attributes and forward-looking focus.

“Basically there are three main reasons that people switch accountants: a lack of service, a lack of responsiveness, or a lack of specialized knowledge,” says Mr. Bassin.  “Personal service and speed are what set our company apart.”

Mr. Bassin’s own professional experience began with KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory services firm in Washington D. C.   He went on to work for a smaller firm in the DC area providing tax and audit services for a diversified client base, including: closely-held private companies’ non-profit organizations, and government agencies.  Like Owen Bregman, Mr. Bassin is a graduate of George Washington University. He also holds an M.S. in Taxation from Baruch College's Zicklin School of Business.
