Dentrix dental practice software deployed on Argentstratus Private Cloud Servers

Sept. 30, 2011 - PRLog -- Argentstratus, a Vancouver, Washington based Multi-Tenant Hosted Private Cloud provider and Gencom Northwest, a Portland, Oregon based Healthcare IT consultant, announce the successful implementation of Dentrix© from Henry Schein Inc.© in the Argentstratus cloud data center.  This deployment is in support of dental practice clients who expressed an interest to Gencom Northwest to plan a server system to handle new software designed for HIPAA compliance.

Dentrix© is used by many dental practices in the Portland metro area.  The problem facing dental clinics is that newer generations of practice management software are more powerful and demand more resources; which requires new investments in server equipment.  Gencom and Argentstratus worked together to put Dentrix© on the Argentstratus Multi-tenant Hosted Private Cloud to provide dental clinics the opportunity to avoid purchasing new server equipment to run updated HIPAA compliant software.  
Eric Wilgus, owner and Chief Technologies of Gencom Northwest says, “HIPAA compliant software really demands larger databases storing more data points than ever before.  This means that servers put into place even just three years ago will likely need to be replaced with more powerful, and expensive servers unless Dentists look to Cloud servers.” Eric points out  that The HITECH act provides a stimulus for healthcare practices who license Electronic Health and Practice Systems that allow for portability.

Testing and staging Dentrix© took a great deal of effort on behalf of Gencom and Argentstratus. “Dentrix has some tricky components,” Says Eric.  “The print engine does not use the Microsoft© print server, so it made it more challenging to make sure the printing worked correctly.”  Eric worked closely with the Infrastructure Team to solve the printing issue and the Infrastructure team declared Dentrix© ready for full implementation by dental practices in mid September.
