Decanter centrifuge is the 4th phase solids control equipment. It is mainly used to separate out the ultra-fine solids and the colloid fine solids in the non-increasing-weight mud.

While in the increasing-weight mud, its function is to recycle barite and gets rid of the colloid solids to guarantee the density and decrease the viscosity.

Decanter Centrifuge Classification and Component

The decanter centrifuge can be divided into two categories, namely the medium-speed large output volume decanter centrifuge and the high-speed small output volume decanter centrifuge.

Each of their treating capacity is 30-50m³/h and 20 m³/h.

A decanter centrifuge is usually contain a rotary drum, spiral input feeder, differential gear, main drive motor, back drive motor, hydraulic couplers, explosion-proof electric device, bottom case, shield and feeding pump.

Working Principle of the Decanter Centrifuge

The decanter centrifuge adopts the principle of centrifugal sedimentation to separate the solids and fluids out.

The procedure to realize is as blow:

The drilling fluids flow from the feeding pipe into the screwpropeller’s hollow shaft from the feeding pump, and then from the hollow shaft come into the rotary drum.

Because the rotary drum revolves in a high speed and put the drilling fluids into motion, the solids begin to move to the paries according to their density.

The relative motion of auger conveyor and rotary drum push the solids forward to the paries into the small end discharge hole, and in the way dried by the rotary drum.

After this, the solids is driven into the bottom mouth and eliminated meanwhile the filtered drilling fluids are put forward to the large end discharge hole from the inner helix way.

That is the procedure of solids and fluids separation.
