Los Angeles, CA – September 21, 2011 – Writer/producer/director David Van Eyssen has launched production company Science 2 Fiction Transmedia, LLC, based in Los Angeles. The company’s first project is a sprawling transmedia property, RCVR, a new model for digital media creation and distribution. RCVR focuses on the humans—receivers—that serve as channels of communication with extra-terrestrial life. Prized by the world’s governments for both their insights into alien life, immortality and energy—as well as their revelations on modern science, medicine and technology—captured receivers face a lifetime of imprisonment and…service to their captors.  The concepts of RVCR, while inspiring skepticism in some, have their basis in factual, eyewitness accounts as fresh as this week’s headlines.

RCVR first manifests in a weekly digital series debuting on-demand September 21, 2011.  Distributed by Machinima—the number one video entertainment brand for gamers around the world—and sponsored exclusively by Motorola, Van Eyssen has written (along with Brian Horiuchi), directed and produced six initial episodes of the series.

RCVR’s first season introduces viewers to Sigma, a government agency formed in 1973 to whitewash and cover up evidence of alien life on Earth. Unit leader Sandy Bergson (Catherine Kresge) and her partner Luke Weber (Daniel Bonjour) create disinformation around UFO sightings and hunt RCVRs for the government. Sent to investigate an encounter involving three children in rural Arkansas, the two agents find themselves involved in a case that will change Weber’s life forever: against his will, he is becoming a RCVR himself, hiding in plain sight as he continues to serve as a government operative.

But RCVR is far more than a show. Van Eyssen—a pioneer of multi-platform, interactive entertainment since the debut of the Internet and one of the creative minds behind BMW’s groundbreaking film series THE HIRE, along with seasoned sci-fi production veteran Tavin Titus, has built an extensive, durable, all-media universe that still barely contains the rich content, impact and information of RCVR. There’s the “official” government web site www.sigma-agency.org; Alvin Peters’ blog, www.projectrcvr.com ; viral video; social network pages and much more. The first app for RCVR debuts exclusively in the fall.

“RVCR is an amazing opportunity for me; proof of concept,” says Van Eyssen,  “The digital series is a small glimpse, a short story arc, a fragment of the larger RCVR narrative—or matrix.  RCVR was and is a living thing, a ground-up (and beyond) opportunity to create a world—and other worlds—for these characters to live in, based partly in fact and partly in speculation. From here, we can take RCVR almost anywhere: feature length, TV, animation, graphic novel, anywhere.”

Van Eyssen started his career directing music videos, commercial and interactive projects.  Following his work on THE HIRE, Van Eyssen directed the award-winning feature SLIPSTREAM starring Vinnie Jones (LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS) and Sean Astin (LORD OF THE RINGS).  Before forming Science 2 Fiction, Van Eyssen ran the Brand Corporation, which challenged the traditional relationship between content and audience by combining content on multiple platforms. In 2009, he produced the successful web series, CIRCLE OF EI8HT, for Paramount and attached Pepsi/Mountain Dew as a sponsor. The series was also distributed through major home entertainment channels Blockbuster and Epix.

RCVR is produced by van Eyssen’s longtime collaborator, multi-platform producer Tavin Marin Titus, whose over 15 years in film, TV and new media career includes the celebrated documentary WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR?; X-MEN:FIRST CLASS and the Emmy-nominated MAMMOTH,  with other projects in development.

“We hope the RCVR story will spread like a pebble dropped in water,” Van Eyssen concludes.  “The social networks we create around our productions enable RCVR fans to become part of—and shape--the mythology we’ve created through ‘dynamic story-telling.’ By offering interaction with other viewers, we’ve created a fully integrated experience for fans to explore and enjoy every element of the production.”  Science2Fiction plans to exploit this
methodology in its other projects and a rumored second season/sequel to RCVR.

Van Eyssen’s repped by CAA, Untitled Entertainment and attorneys Lichter, Grossman.
