Willie Nelson’s tour bus headed to auction

Sept. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- TORONTO, Ontario – September 21, 2011 – For many traveling entertainers, the venerable ‘tour bus' serves as home base and main transportation for cast and crew. A veteran of the road with literally millions of miles behind him is the legendary outlaw singer and songwriter - Willie Nelson. Well known in popular culture for its rolling party atmosphere, Nelson's tour bus was recently voted one of the top ten most famous buses in history by Time Magazine.

In 1986, Mr. Nelson took delivery of a new Eagle Model 10 motor coach outfitted by conversion specialists Florida Coach and personalized with hand-painted murals by the artist, 'Rainmaker'. With a grueling schedule of appearances, this vehicle was used extensively by Nelson and his band for several years and is now being offered for sale for the first time at the Classic Car Auction of Toronto held October 21-23 at Mississauga's International Centre.

Favored by entertainers and drivers, Texas-built Eagle motor coaches were known for their smooth riding suspension and reliability. This original custom coach on offer has been carefully refurbished and is equipped with beds for six, twin lounge areas, modern bathroom with stand up shower and separate audio visual systems for each traveler. Powered by a Detroit Diesel 6V-92TA turbo-charged engine and automatic transmission, this luxury coach will carry 330 cubic feet of luggage underneath along with 130 gallons of fuel and an on-board four cylinder power generator.

With its documented provenance and luxurious amenities, this unique transporter is ready for the next family of entertainers to take it on the road again.

Hosted by industry veteran Dan Spendick’s Collector Car Productions, the weekend long auction event is the largest of its kind in Canada and will feature several historic pre and post-war classics along with automotive memorabilia and services.
