North Country Design Helps Assist 9/11 First Responders and Combat Veterans With PTSD

Sept. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Heuvelton, NY - On the ten year anniversary of 9/11 a redesigned website will become available for the rescue personnel that helped survivors of The World Trade Center attacks in New York City, and combat veterans, thanks to the efforts of web designer Shawn Tooley from Heuvelton, NY.

Mr. Tooley's company, North Country Design, started offering free website design for non-profit organizations in early 2011. NCD was approached by Eva Usadi of Trauma and Resiliency Resources, Inc. in early August about working on a redesign of their website as part of the free non-profit website design  program.

"I had been getting upwards of five or six requests for websites every week throughout the summer. I have to be very selective on which organizations I work with so that I do not spread myself too thin." said Tooley, "When Eva's application came in for TRR and I learned a little bit about their needs for a new site, I knew right away that it would be a meaningful project that I really wanted to be a part of." he continued.

“I was so excited to have been selected by Tooley’s company for our re-design of TRR’s website. He really knows the business of online marketing and gave important advise about layout to facilitate fundraising and the use of social media.” said Usadi.

Trauma and Resiliency Resources, Inc. (TRR) assists first responders, combat veterans, including active duty soldiers, military veterans and all their family members, in understanding that people often do not bounce back after significant traumatic experiences. Many of these service men and women and first responders are suffering from PTSD, as are their family members.

TRR offers two distinct programs: "Warrior Camp" is a week-long intensive residential treatment program. “Horses’ Hooves and Warriors' Hearts" is a program that offers weekly sessions or day-long workshops that incorporate horses in the healing of trauma responses or PTSD. Both programs enhance resilience, improve relationships with loved ones and facilitate life-long change.

“The website re-design is more accessible and easier for first responder and warrior families to navigate. It is also simpler for sponsors to make donations and be able to really help.” Usadi said.

"I have friends and family that live with effects of PTSD and I see first hand how their lives and the lives of people around them are affected. There isn't much I can do on a personal level for them except be understanding. Donating my time and services to this non-profit organization that reaches out to the people who are always there for our communities was a great way for me to give back." said Tooley.
