William Ryan Homes Goes Smart and Solar in Arizona

Sept. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- William Ryan Homes, a private home building company creating homes in Estrella in Goodyear, Arizona is now offering smart home technology along with solar energy systems as standard.   “We want to give our home buyers an extra advantage in managing their home. The smart home technology combined with the solar energy production will help lower heating and cooling costs, as well as offer extra convenience,” said Corbett McCallum, Vice President and Arizona division leader for William Ryan Homes.

The smart home technology is provided via the Schlage Link system, a convenient and affordable way to self-monitor and control access 24 hours a day/7 days a week. The basic system includes a wireless keypad lock and is built around Z-Wave® technology, enabling homeowners to lock and unlock doors and control other Z-Wave-enabled devices from any computer and most Web-enabled mobile phones. Additionally, William Ryan Home homeowners can adjust the home temperature and turn lights off and on via this same technology. “If a homeowner is on a trip and wants the cool the home prior to their arrival, it’s easy and convenient,” noted McCallum.

This technology also allows the home owner to program in unique door lock codes for select people so they can let a trusted individual into the home such as a repair person or cleaning service. That code can be assigned for a very specific period of time, and then disabled. “Each member of the family can also have their own door code, making it easy to see if a child got home from school, or in from a date when they were supposed to,” said McCallum.

In addition to the smart home technology, William Ryan Homes is now offering solar energy systems as standard. The equipment, provided by SolarCity, will reduce energy bills by hundreds of dollars annually over a non-solar home of the same size. SolarCity, Arizona’s leading solar power provider, will provide monitoring, warranty coverage, insurance and guarantee the solar power production for 20 years. If the panels produce less than SolarCity guarantees, they will compensate the homeowner for the difference each year.  

Committed to green building, William Ryan Homes also includes energy saving features such as blown-in wall insulation, high performance Low E windows to reduce the heat gain by reflecting the suns’ heat, use of sustainable wood products, conditioned attic space which results in a tighter building envelope, electric heat pump, water conserving plumbing fixtures and Energy Star rated appliances. “We are building greener futures and we are proud of that,” said McCallum.
