PLI Supports Public Interest Legal Community with Pro Bono Net Sponsorship

Sponsorship Will Help PLI Give Back by Supporting Pro Bono Net's Innovative Programs

Sept. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Pro Bono Net, a nonprofit leader in innovative programs that increase access to justice, today announced that the Practising Law Institute (PLI) has joined its sponsorship program. PLI provides continuing legal education to attorneys nationwide through seminars, webcasts, on-demand learning and a variety of publications.

Pro Bono Net’s flagship site, http://www.probono.net, helps thousands of attorneys nationwide connect with legal aid organizations in their communities, find opportunities for meaningful pro bono work and obtain the training and support they need to be more effective advocates for their clients.

PLI has a strong commitment to public service, and offers scholarships for its programs to legal services attorneys and others serving the public good.

“PLI’s mission is to train lawyers---all lawyers including those in pro bono and public service practice,” said Victor J. Rubino, President of PLI. “ The current economic environment makes this effort all the more important and with the support of PLI’s Privileged Member firms we can do our part along with Pro Bono Net to help make a difference.”

“Even as millions of Americans struggle to ensure stability for their families in the face of economic upheaval, funding for civil legal services is in decline,” said Mark O’Brien, Executive Director of Pro Bono Net.  “The commitment of PLI and our other sponsors helps Pro Bono Net continue working to ensure that more attorneys take on pro bono work, more poor people can address their legal issues on their own, and legal aid organizations nationwide are able to serve more clients more effectively.”
