The Emperor’s Banquet –

Sept. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- (New York---) The Emperor’s Banquet is the lavish culmination of a global competition of over forty of the finest Chefs of Chinese Cuisine from around the world, competing for two days in the heart of TIMES SQUARE.  The winning Chefs, in five distinctive regional cuisines, will prepare The Emperor’s Banquet at Gala celebrations on Sunday, September 25th.  (See below for details regarding Culinary Competition in Times Square)

THE EMPEROR’S BANQUET – Sunday, September 25, takes place at Pier 60 on Chelsea Piers, The West Side Highway and 23rd Street.  http;//www.emperorsbanquet.com

The evening will be a luscious and lavish combination of the finest of Imperial China and the delicious delectables of 21st Century America.  The Banquet is a blending of Five Thousand Years of Chinese History and culture, with the elegance and beauty of a New York Gala.  Celebrities, VIPs, media, all add to the excitement and glamour of this event.

Marc Summers, host of Unwrapped on the The Food Network will be guest host of the Banquet.  The banquet will honor KERRY KENNEDY, President of The RFK Center for Justice & Human Rights, whose mission is to realize Robert Kennedy’s Dream of a Peaceful and Just World by Advancing Human Rights.  

Mr. Benjamin Ismail, head of Asia-Pacific Region of Reporters Without Borders, will also be recognized for Reporters without Borders’ longtime work in securing the safety and security of journalists around the world.  NTD is a longtime proponent of ‘human rights’ and ‘Freedom of Press.’

Culinary Competition in Times Square
The two day competition, representing the cuisines of Szechuan, Shandong, Cantonese, Huaiyang and Northeastern Cuisine, will also include alliance events with two of New York’s most famous and popular charities.  On Thursday, September 22nd, in ceremonies in Times Square, meals will be prepared and delivered to the Chinese homebound elderly, and to the Chinatown Senior Center, together with CITYMEALS ON WHEELS.  Gael Greene, one of the world’s leading “foodies,” and founding spirit behind CITYMEALS will be on hand to welcome the Chefs to New York, and other celebrities are expected to assist in the delivery to the Chinese and Asian New Yorkers who receive their daily meals from this powerful charity.

That evening, in a special homage to the City’s Finest and Bravest, a Gala Sampling Dinner will be hosted in honor of the Uniformed Fire Officers Bravest Scholarship Fund and the Sergeants Benevolent Association.  The food festival will welcome widows and children of Fallen Heroes of  9/11.  VIPs and celebrities will be among the greeters.

Friday, September 23rd, will see the final rounds of the competition.  Winners will be chosen by some of New York’s most famous Chefs, food and wine writers, and local TV and media celebrities.  Five winners, one from each region, will be chosen, and they will receive Gold Medals for Excellence, and begin working on the menu for The Emperor’s Banquet.
