Sept. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- Opening 10 September - 3 October 2011

Autumn  is an ambitious and interactive, four-part multi-media installation, composed to reflect the four different stages of life as perceived by Metro-Boulot-Dodo - an energizing trio of artists working across art forms and known for their unique blend of live performance, original soundtrack and cutting edge new media.

The Main Gallery of the National Centre for Craft & Design will be transformed using a synthesis of a 16 speaker audio soundscape, interactive sculptures, video installation and a constantly shifting lighting state, to create an immersive atmospheric environment that takes the viewer through an autumnal 24 hours.

On entering the gallery TVs come to life, projections appear and fade and sounds drift around the space. An oak tree grows from an iron bed, an Austin Sprite decays in a nest of branches, a rusty iron bath swims with projected ducks and late night teletext charts one woman’s restless night. As interpreted by the artists, Autumn has been designed to offer a thoughtful, warm and intensely atmospheric reflection on the years between forty and sixty. The evenings get darker, curtains are drawn, memories haunt abandoned cots, regrets crackle out of radios and fresh hopes are illuminated in the new dawn.

The National Centre for Craft & Design has worked in collaboration with other Lincolnshire based arts venues to bring all four installations from the Four Seasons project (including the newly commissioned Summer) to the region. Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter will be shown across Lincolnshire from August 2011 onwards, as part of the LOV (Lincolnshire One Venues) co-commissioning projects and the Lincoln Festival of Digital Culture.
