Synchronise: Creating Craft Collaborations

An exhibition of Design Factory members who have embraced the challenge to collaborate with each other to create new work and present a fresh merging of media and disciplines including textiles, ceramics, furniture and jewellery.

Feb. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- The National Centre for Craft & Design are excited to be presenting an exhibition showcasing well known East Midlands makers with national reputations.

All members of Design Factory (a sister organisation of the NCCD) the makers have embraced the challenge to collaborate with each other in order to stimulate exciting developments within their own creative practices, encourage skill-sharing and create new work specifically for this exhibition.

Over 20 members have collaborated on 12 projects all interpreting the idea of collaboration in different ways.  Some have worked together and used their individual skills to make a combined piece or body of work; others have “swapped” materials; some have learnt a new skill or been inspired by their chosen collaborative partner to work at a different scale.

The exhibition will display a fresh merging of media and disciplines including textiles and ceramics; jewellery and ceramics; textiles and furniture and showcase makers who include Jan Garside; Clare Gage; Gillian Lee Smith; Pete Moss; Ruth Singer; Alys Power; Kate McBride; Anna Collette Hunt; Phiona Richards; Samantha Robinson and Sharyn Dunn.

Synchronise will open on 9 March until 2 June 2013 in the Roof Gallery, The National Centre for Craft & Design, Sleaford, Lincolnshire.
