British-American Business Council Announces Business Awards Finalists

UK and US companies were announced as finalists in three categories in the 2nd Annual BABC International Business Awards at a reception hosted by BABC member The Westin Memorial City, Houston TX on August 25.
 
Aug. 31, 2011 - PRLog -- August 31, 2011 - Houston TX - UK and US companies were announced as finalists in three categories in the 2nd Annual BABC International Business Awards at a reception hosted by BABC member The Westin Memorial City, Houston TX on August 25.

The awards are a programme of the British-American Business Council Houston designed to recognize companies excelling in trade and investment between Texas and the UK.   The competition is open to companies of all sizes in all sectors.

“UK companies invest $20b into the economy of Texas annually.  And, there is roughly $8b in trade between the UK and Texas.  The UK is the single largest foreign investor in Texas.  UK companies account for nearly a fifth of all jobs created by foreign-owned affiliates in the state.  BABC wants the companies participating in this transatlantic trade to receive the recognition they deserve for the vital role they play in the economies of Texas and the UK”, said Becci Himes, Executive Director, British-American Business Council Houston.

Small to Mid-sized Business Awards

•   Total Waste Management Alliance (UK)
•   Wild Well Controls (US)

Large Corporate International Business Awards

•   Hines (US)
•   MoneyGram International (US)
•   Wood Mackenzie (UK)

Consul General’s Award for Corporate Social Responsibility

•   Mary Kay Corp (US)
•   Royal Bank of Scotland (UK)

Winners will be announced at the 2nd Annual BABC Business Awards Luncheon on October 5, 2011, at The Westin Memorial City, Houston TX.  The event Mistress of Ceremonies will be Deborah Duncan of KHOU.  Keynote speaker will be Sir Robert Fry, KCB, CBE, Chairman of McKinney Rogers and former Deputy Commanding General of the coalition forces in Iraq.  HM Consul General Andrew Millar will be on hand to announce and award the Consul General’s Award for Social Corporate Responsibility.
