Aug. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Independent publisher, Emily Hill, asks, “with less than 1% of emerging author’ titles being selected for publication, why would those in the 99% agent-rejected category put themselves through the dreaded query process in the first place?  The economy and diminished bookstore space (caused by the closure of bookstores globally) has made independent publishing the only alternative for most authors.”

In recognition of the ground swell self-publishing movement, Emily Hill, IndiePublisher, has released her updated ‘All Smart Cookies Can Self Publish’.  In it Ms. Hill details the current landscape of the publishing industry, and outlines the steps necessary for self-publishing – and marketing one’s titles – successfully.

You can read Emily Hill’s views on IndiePub issues and the self-publishing movement. Visit http://www.avharrison-publishing.com/ for details.

An IndiePub coach, Ms. Hill is an outspoken voice for the self-publishing movement.  She promotes her progressive views on publishing as a Pacific Northwest workshop facilitator, and private publishing coach.  She is among the featured presenters at the upcoming Write On The Sound conference being held October 2, 2011 in Edmonds, Washington.

Ms. Hill explains her commitment to the self-publishing movement in this way, “When you consider that 90% of the literary agents in New York are being asked by their authors how to get their titles back in order to Go Indie [Publishers Weekly Jan 2010]; it’s no wonder the self-publishing movement is growing.  She adds that with writers like Amanda Hocking, Lisa Gardner, and Barry Eisler now switching to Indie, or doing an Indie-combo we will see major changes in the publishing world, and a wide acceptance of self-published – and contract published titles.

The author of ‘All Smart Cookies Can Self-Publish!’ was intrigued to read on JA Konrath’s blog that Bob Mayer predicts houses like St. Martins isn’t publishing currently acquired titles until 2012.  She notes, “self-published authors can receive royalty checks within four months of uploading their titles to popular sites such as KDP Amazon, CreateSpace; and PubIT! (Barnes and Nobles’ eBook platform.”  She concludes with her trademark charge, “Go Indie!”
