HBCUsOnline Names Dallas Native George Willis Controller

Aug. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- George Willis, a veteran business executive, has been named controller of HBCUsOnline, the national initiative to enroll students in undergraduate and graduate online degree programs at Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Willis has an extensive background in accounting with corporations and nonprofits.  He will be responsible for the daily financial management of the company, reporting to Thomas Joyner Jr., HBCUsOnline’s president and CEO.  

“I’m very excited to have George join our team,” Joyner said. “He has the kind of experience that will help our company grow.”

Willis has an impressive career that includes work in public accounting with Coopers & Lybrand (now “PricewaterhouseCoopers”) and KPMG. At the Dallas Area Rapid Transit, he managed all aspects of financial, governmental and operational reporting.  At the St. Philip’s School and Community Center in Dallas, he served as Controller/CFO, responsible for finance, human resources and administration for the school and its foundation. As Finance Manager at the Baylor Foundation, he managed financial reporting, budgeting and analysis.  

The Dallas native graduated with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.  He’s a married father of three kids.
