Aug. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- If you have ever wondered what it would like to be to live as a Game Ranger in the African bush then look no further! This five day bush experience is designed for the adventurer, prospective traveller (both local and international), as well as someone considering a change in career.

Candidates will spend the majority of each day learning about the bush by gaining hands-on experience in one of Africa’s most productive big game areas. On a daily basis you will have the opportunity to spend three or four hours on foot exploring and getting to grips with the intricacies of the African bush.

A daily game drive is also undertaken where Africa’s big game species are observed up close and personal, giving you wonderful photographic opportunities as well as getting to grips with the behaviour of wild animals in their natural environment. You will experience firsthand the wonders of the bushveld ecosystem under the African skies.

After a fun-filled day in the sun, we encourage you to sit around the camp fire and listen to the sounds of the African bush. Besides the sound of a crackling log fire, you can expect to hear the eerie call of the Fiery-necked Nightjar, the howl of the Spotted Hyaena, as well as the majestic roar of male Lions…

The game ranger training (which contains no assessments or homework) is conducted at ANT’s Xivambalana River Camp (pronounced: she-vamba-larna, the local name for the Emerald-spotted Wood Dove). The camp is situated on the banks of the Limpopo River, which forms a natural boundary between South Africa and Botswana. The typical landscape is interrupted with large sandstone outcrops and baobab trees.

This is one of Africa’s most untouched wilderness areas that is home to lion, leopard, large herds of African elephant, hippopotamus, the Nile crocodile, giraffe, gemsbok and a large variety of other plains game. If this piece of African wilderness fails to inspire, then nothing else will! The reserve is also particularly rich in birdlife, with 388 species listed to date, including African Finfoot and Pel’s Fishing Owl.
