(MOHAWK, NY) – "Roots, Rock, Reggae ‘Pon De Mountaintop Festival and Campout” will be held at Gelston Castle Estate on Fri., Aug. 19 through Sun., Aug. 21 in celebration of the Fourth Annual Green Music festival  "Reggae for Climate Protection." Historic Gelston Castle Estate is located just outside Mohawk, New York, on 330 acres overlooking the Mohawk Valley.
On Fri., Aug. 19, starting at 9 p.m, the evening is hosted by legendary DJ, Massapan, and admission is free. Green enthusiasts can enjoy cool sounds at the Crossroads Café, and a Jamaican film festival on the lawn of Chateau Safflyn. "Countryman" with Carl Bradshaw, "Rockers" starring Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace, and "One Love" starring Ky-mani Marley will be screened.
On Sat., Aug. 20 at 10 a.m., a day of festivities begins that includes yoga, golf, beach volleyball, soccer tournaments, dominoes, and all-day music at the Crossroads Café. Live performances feature Frankie Paul, Stephen Souza, Ruff Stuff Band, Big Band Takeover, Anguile and the Satellite Rockers, Jah Powas, Ras Doo, Amirah, and Judah Tribe. Recorded music will be played by Royal Heart Sound, African Star, and Twin Sounds.
On Sun., Aug. 21 at noon, there will be a free concert for the public, featuring the Frank Stepanek Band with special guests Bob Holz and George Deveny playing at 2 p.m. Stepanek formerly was guitarist for Black Uhuru. At 3 p.m., honors will be given to distinguished guests and an awards ceremony held for winners of the previous day’s competitions.

Weekend tent camping is $25 beginning on Saturday; RVs are welcome for $75 for the weekend. No coolers are allowed outside the camping area; and no fires are allowed in the camping area.

About Gelston Castle Estate

Historic Gelston Castle Estate, situated on 330 acres overlooking the Mohawk Valley, has presented major concerts and events since 2009, including moe.down, Furthurfest (with Bob Weir and Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead), Reggae Fest for Climate Protection, Drums Along the Mohawk and more.
